Located in the civil parish of Littleham, near Exmouth, the journey to this historic house takes you through beautiful Devonshire countryside, making it a delightful excursion for history buffs and nature lovers alike.

A La Ronde’s unique 16-sided design is captivating, but it’s what’s inside that truly mesmerises its visitors. Discover ornate marquetry, intricate shell gallery walls and quirky, antiquarian artefacts collected from the cousins’ travels through Europe. The panoramic views of the Exe Estuary from the rooftop alone are worth the trip. Opening Times A La Ronde operates from 10.30am to 5.30pm from Saturday to Wednesday, excluding Bank Holidays. To ensure visitors’ safety and maintain the house’s integrity, it’s recommended to check with the site for any time changes or mandated regulations before planning your visit.

The History of A La Ronde

A La Ronde was designed and built by spinster cousins Jane and Mary Parminter in the late 18th century. Drawing inspiration from their grand tour around Europe, they creatively designed each facet of the house, making it an enduring testament to the Parminter cousins’ creativity, love for nature, and eccentric taste.
