We are all guilty of watching Strictly and Dancing on Ice – we’re sure you have a whole host of popular dance films you love to re-watch at home too!
Long gone are the days where we found ourselves confined to just being armchair dancers – now you can make a whole break of it!
At the Langstone Cliff Hotel, our dance holidays are unrivalled – read on to learn the benefits of moving around to a song or two.
It goes without saying that dance has a whole host of health benefits – but some we have discovered may surprise you!
Did you know that when you are dancing, you can burn around 400 calories an hour?
Now that’s the kind of exercise we can all look forward to.
As we get older it is important that we look after ourselves; while we see guests of all ages join us for our dance holidays, the one thing everyone has in common is that they are looking after their bodies, wellbeing and mind!
Now, you might be distracted by the steps of the cha-cha or tango, but behind the scenes, you’re improving the condition of your heart and lungs.
You’re also increasing muscle tone and strength and benefitting your coordination, balance and agility!
Dancing reduces stress, so it’s a quick way to give your mood a boost.
It’s partly the reason why so many of our guests become regulars on our dance holidays – they can forget about work and life stress and just focus on the music.
As well as feeling more confident physically, your mental capabilities are tested and strengthened each time you dance.
Have you got your dancing shoes ready?
Socially, dance is the perfect hobby if you want to meet new people.
Our guests have made lifelong friends thanks to our regular dance breaks – it’s all down to greater self-confidence and self-esteem!
You can bring a partner, meet a partner, dance alone – the choice is yours.
By helping someone learn new steps or by receiving tuition to further your dance knowledge, you’re inadvertently gaining better social skills – all while picking up a new hobby!
Now that you know all about the benefits of a weekend filled with dancing, it’s time to tell you all about our two ballrooms!
When comparing our facilities to other hotels in Devon, we’re frequently told by guests how much they love our dancing spaces.
Both offer sprung strip maple dance floors; the Washington floor is approximately 11 x 14.5 metres (36 x 48 feet) and the sprung Lincoln floor is approximately 8 x 5 metres (43 x 18 feet).
Both rooms have carpeted seating areas so you can catch your breath or watch the other dancers in comfort.
We also have a smaller portable dance floor which is ideal for individual tuition or training.
Fully airconditioned, you won’t have to worry about a thing – just remembering your steps!
